28i/N20 oil change interval on cluster?

When I change my oil and reset the counter on my 2014, it resets to 7,000 miles or one year. Is 7,000 miles what it says for others who have an N20 28i? I've read a lot about BMW modifying the oil change interval from 15,000 to 10,000 miles. Has it always been 7,000 for the N20?

8,000 is BMW recommended on my N55. I change it every 2-4k because I beat on the car.

I wonder if the computer will have you change the oil sooner and sooner as the car ages and accumulates mileage.

Are you the original owner? If not, maybe the previous owner coded the vehicle for reduced mileage between oil changes? IMHO, 7k is fine unless the vehicle sees severe duty.

AFAIK, the mileage is static.

Second owner. I'm not disagreeing that 7,000 miles is a good interval, and often do it at 5k. I was just wondering if that's what all N20s set to by default.

My 2017 F25 x3 28i is set to 6,000 miles. The previous owner may have changed it... not sure.

My wife's 2016 X3 28i shows 6k miles after a reset. But she does mostly around town driving with lots of short drives and stop and go traffic. It usually prompts us to change oil at every 5k to 6k miles.
I believe it adapts to your driving pattern. When we got the car nearly 4 years ago, it first showed 10k miles, then it monitored her driving pattern and dropped it down to 7k then 6k.
One time we got to almost 8k miles before it told us we needed an oil change, we did a lot of long road trips during that time. So it adopted.

That's interesting. My X3 is mostly driven in town, but we just took a 2,200 mile road trip. When we left, it said I needed an oil change in 1,300 miles. When I got back it said I was overdue by only about 150 miles instead of 900. So it is clearly not a linear countdown from a set number.
