X3 squeaking noise from Pano roof
Hi There
Does anyone know how to permanently fix this annoying squeaking noise? My dealer here in Canada seems cannot fix this problem at all. I have been there 2 times and now the moon roof and shade cannot be closed. I have to manually initialized it to close. Thanks |

There are some suggestions here on the site. I haven't actually tried them yet. But mine seems to only speak when shade is open, and it is cold. Summer approaches, and I tend to keep it closed in summer due to the Oklahoma heat.

Do a search, there's a large thread on this. I had same issue and used the easy fix and problem never returned. Involves a little rubber bumper on piece that touches the glass.

DO NOT take your car to dealership for this, they will mess it up even more.
lbjgh posted a fix for the issue read through this thread http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showth...=809566&page=4 |

lbjgh's fix works! It costs next to nothing and takes a couple of minutes to install.

when pano roof starts to malfunction, to reset it push button up and hold it 20 seconds.
it will go thru several sequences. for creaking noise use rubber bumpers as describe in link above. |

Instead of rubber bumps, I used Velcro pads (soft loop side). I cut two small squares and attached them where the above link recommends. Noise is gone irrespective of outside temperature!

Jut to keep you guys informed about my X3 Panoramic roof issues. Since January of 2016, I have been in/out of BMW dealership in Newmarket 5 times now.
Today, I took the car out of dealer's parking lot and did not hear any noise from the usual spot. I will keep an eye on it If the squeaking noise starts again, I would apply Velcro pad first per Supernova1 suggestion, since I already have it. It is great info. about fixing/eliminating squeaking noise from the Panoramic Roof. Great post. Thank you all |
