Popped the charge pipe, transmission went dumb
14 xDrive35i 104,000miles
Recently had the charge pipe fail while driving, which is now repaired with the vsrf version. While driving it home (~4mi) with the broken charge pipe the transmission was very strange but just marked it up to the charge pipe. Now however the transmission is, well "off". Noticeable shifts, small flare, a bit of a hang, rushes to higher gears but also tends to carry them out on occasion. Hard to describe, it went from a very responsive transmission to one that feels like it wasn't tuned right. Overall the car drives fine, it's just now it is 'different'. Diffs changed last night (gawd the stink), transfer case fluid arriving today, transmission service in the near future. Anything I should be looking for? Damaged vacuum line, something else? |

Try to unhook your battery for a few minutes and re-hook it. I had a super weird issue after my CP exploded and I changed it for a VRSF one and it ended up just needing some time off the battery to reset...

Boost leak on the new charge pipe, probably from the coupling (VSRF).
Smoothed the wrinkle paint (wrinkle paint on a sealing surface?!?). Greased the clamps (more clamping force) and greased the sealing surface. Checked the o-rings (both fine). MASSIVE improvement. |

For some reason I think the car just get's funky when the CP blows up. I uninstalled and reinstalled mine 4 times thinking I had done something wrong because the car would go into this sporadic idle otherwise and it just needed some time off the battery to reset itself... Figured that out after replacing MAF etc etc. |
