Popping sound from rear trunk
Hey all!
I was just wondering if anyone ever experienced a weird popping sound coming from the rear trunk of their X3? Mine is a 2014 X3 and it started about 1-2 month after purchasing the vehicle. Currently I have taken my car in 3 time to get this popping issue resolved. I was told that is has something to do with the rear hatch lever. At least thats what they told me the 3rd time when they said that they finally "fixed" it (which I thought they did because the sound was gone). 2 days ago... that popping sound came back... I have no idea what the heck is causing this and I'm getting sick of it . I don't have much faith left in my dealer so I thought I'd ask you guys if anyone has experienced this issue and if so then what is causing it and how to go about telling the dealer to fix it. The popping sound occurs during low speeds (under 20mph) on slightly bumpy roads. |

Dont lose faith in a dealer who is trying to help....as you said they did fix it for a while...
Sounds like you need to get in the trunk and have someone drive you over slighty bumpy roads at 20mph! Is it temperature dependant - are you keeping a log?

I plan to bring my X3 in tomorrow to have them look at it again. It is not temperature dependent.
I have had the shop foreman sit in the car while I drove it around the dealership (they have some bumpy roads around) and he noticed the popping as well. He also said that he had one of his service guys sit in the trunk while he drove to see if they could pinpoint the sound. From what I know they brought in an interior specialist and a sound specialist to fix my problem (3rd time). |
