My first post......my first BMW!

Hi folks,
Another newbie on here who's been lurking for the last few days. First of all, congratulations, great forum, really helpful.

After years of driving Audis (can I admit to that here?) I've recently ordered my first BMW and I've opted for the new X3 and gone for a 30d M Sport in carbon black . I test drove a 20d SE auto which was a great all-rounder but this was the day after test driving a fully-loaded 530d SE Touring. The 5-series was a fantastic car but a bit too big and without 4WD, not ideal in the north-east of Scotland so I opted for the X3 but with the new 6-cylinder diesel (the other usual suspects, Q5, Volvo XC60, Freelander were either too common, too dull or just in need of a serious update).

I'm fortunate that the car will be a company car but that means I've opted for next to no options as these cost me, but I did specify heated seats, ipod connection and 19" 369 rims

Big problem now is that although the car was ordered on 04/04, I'm being quoted mid-December for delivery......

Welcome, The 3.0d will be fantastic no doubts, Carbon black very nice, how about the interior? Heated seats are a must thats for sure. As for options watch out, reading these forums tends to tip you over the edge. You be ticking option boxes before you know it.

I went for the nevada black interior with the aluminium trim, more sporty looking in my eyes thean the wood-effect trims which IMHO, look better with the lighter leather shades.

Looking through the other correspondance, am already getting jealous and I have another 7-8months to wait for delivery!

Welcome. 30d in Carbon Black will look awesome. I'd choose CB if ordering an MSport. Good luck avoiding adding costly options after spending time here while you wait. Xenons are the only must have

Welcome to the forum. The 30D will be awesome, I'm sure. But don't be so down-hearted on the lead times. My dealer was telling me just before Easter that they were looking at Feb/Mar for 20D orders!

Good luck with this! As Pugger says, you'll be upgrading before you know it. I bet somebody mentions Xenons before too long.

There you go. sfax 'helped' me add Xenons to my order too! (I'm sure it was the right choice though.)

Hi CRW, good choice.
My company car scheeme would only run to a Q5 with no toys. So I set myself a personal budget in Feb and I'm now £8k over - £4k of which was influenced by reading these posts!
Mrs Max3 won't go for black (or white) otherwise I would be down for CB. Seen it on a 520d m sprt and it looks great.

Welcome! I'm a newbie here myself. That sucks about your wait time. And I thought my 1.5 month wait was long enough already.

Welcome CRW and nice choice

Xenons would be good for those dark winter days in aberdeen

Whilst I wanted the 30d I couldnt wait and/or justify loading the 30d and getting close to a decent spec X5 price bracket (not sure why but just couldnt)
