Stock Tires
I went for a test drive at my local dealer in the USA of a freshly produced X3 35 without sport package or dynamic handling package and noticed a different set of tires than most pics i've seen:
They were Eagle LS's. I did some checking on Tirerack.com and people really did not like these tires at all. Noisy, not great ride quality, and really poor in the mud and snow. I will be taking delivery of my car in late April/early May as I waited for the 6NR update but I'd be more than a little bummed if my car got spec'd with these tires as it would force me to buy a snow tire package for sure next winter. Anyone else get these tires recently and any reviews? |

I heard from a BMW representative at an Auto Show that BMW uses several brands of tires for all their vehicles. The reason being they don't want to have a car tied to one specific brand of tire in case there's an issue with those tires. (Think Ford SUVs and Firestone tires.)
He said there's no way to know what tires to expect until the vehicle is made. And even that may take a bit of digging. The Pirelli All Seasons that most of us seem to have appear to be so new that there's no information on them anywhere - even the Pirelli website. (At least I haven't been able to find anything.) |

I have the good years.. they are pretty bad. Actually decent in snow, but scary in rain, and yes.. noisy.
But in the end... not that big a deal. I'm gonna keep em for a bit, then see what comes out as a next set. |
