F25 fuel consumption x3

hi guys - i have a 2012 xdrive20i x3 f25.

the fuel consumption is very bad at 5.8km per litre. i use it for urban/ city drives daily.

the car has just been serviced.

any ideas on why the consumption is so bad?

This could be a lot of things. I think it's probably best to give more information and collect more information. This is the N20 engine, right? How many km are on the vehicle? I would scan for codes. The n20 engine is the one with the timing chain issues, has this been resolved? As far as I know that repair is something that should be done no matter what. When not if.

Any noises the car makes? What's it like on a cold start? Any rough idle? Any drop in RPMs? Check under the hood for classic oil leaks.

thanks for the feedback. i just sent it to a BMW specialist to check the car. no leaks, no errors in engine codes etc.

yes, this is the n20 engine.

therefore it concerns me as to why the fuel consumption is so high.

How long have you owned the vehicle?
Was the fuel consumption always bad or did it change recently?
Are you actually calculating the consumption or just going by the dash display?

i owned the vehicle for 2 months - bought it off another owner.

i will discount whatever the previous owner mentioned. when i sent it for a diagnosis or check, the mechnic said it was all fine.

i'm calculating my fuel consumption based on a full tank.

From a full tank, how many KMs I have travelled and how much petrol did I pump in after.

How many miles? Have you replaced the oxygen sensor? I replaced mine at 110k miles with a Bosch sensor. No codes but figured it was past its prime. My mpg went up. Don't know how much exactly but I definitely felt a difference.
