Smile Performance of 28i

Just got back from a 3400 mile trip. Leaving MO traveling to Sedona AZ and to the Grand Canyon. Back throught Colorado Springs and the back home. I would say have have been on all kinds of terrain. From the flat lands of Oklahoma and Texas to the Mountains of Sedona AZ and the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. My best gas mileage of 30.3 through the flat lands and 26.6 through the mountains. Overall 28.6 mpg. Handled very well throught the mountains. The only sad thing is I got a dorn door dent from someone and a chipped windshield. Very pleased with the 28i

It's amazing that you are getting 30 plus. Any special driving tricks?

Nuts. I'm excited for my 35i, but I thought long and hard about 28i for that exact reason. That's the same gas mileage as my GTI on a road trip, and that's a way smaller car.

On this trip I drove anywhere from 70 to 91 mph. Mostly 73 to 75. Used a gas mixer of 89 to 91 octain . I have gotten 32 mpg going accross Kansas.

Why did you mix 89 with 91? I always use 91 and never got more than 28 mph.

Probably being just a tight wod. Sometimes I even use 93 depending on the type of gas. I try not to get lower than an half of a tank to make it easier to switch back and forth. It just works for me. Taken it in for the first service. I have 16000 miles on it. Didn't want to put that many miles on the oil change. Wanted it serviced before I went on the trip with 13000 miles on it with 2 weeks of having it for a year and BMW wouldn't change it.
