X3 35i Performance Chip

Hello Everyone,

Has anyone seen or heard (or tried) of any chips to improve X3's performance? I don't see Dinan offering anything. Thank you very much!

I know HARTGE has for the E83 and F25 X3s.
According to their website... a stock F25 35i with 306HP... jumps to 362hp with their engine/chip conversion

I plan to install the HARTGE unit during the week.

I did a bit of research on the different piggyback systems and the HARTGE unit whilst the most expensive appears to be the most sophisticated making use of the highest number of engine sensors. Attached are the installation instructions.

I also purchased the HARTGE accelerator booster which I will install at the same time. And my supersprint exhaust has finally arrived from Italy.

Will let you know how it drives post install.

I contacted Dinan about upgrades - they ARE working on it:

"We do not yet offer software for the X3 35i as they changed the communication system for this vehicle. We are in development, however.

Best regards,
Scott Leandres"

If I do tune, I'll wait for Dinan as I like their warranty.

Sorry to add another question to post but does anyone have experience with the Hartge upgrade on a 3.0d? Thanks.

Definitely very interested in these upgrades. Hartge ECU looks like one of the best out there.

I checked out Hartge and they have cool stuff for performance. Also like the dual exhaust. Only challenge is finding a source in US and installer?

BMW Performance Upgrade

I was under the impression that BMW Corporate would at some point provided a performance upgrade for the X3, much like it has for other models.

Is this true?

Hey Piezon, I bought the Hartge engine module from Doug@Turner Motorsport. He is very helpful if you send him a mail. I also corresponded directly with Hartge in Germany with a few questions before I made the purchase. The engine module is a simple plug and play install or you could get any mechanic to fit it for you if you weren't 100% comfortable. Should only be an hours labour charge. I'll post some photos in the next few days to show it installed on the N55.

I also went with eibach springs and the supersprint quad pipe exhaust. I'm fairly sure that eibach and supersprint are where Hartge source their springs/exhaust. The muffler uses the factory hangers but need to cut the rear bumper plastic to fit the extra set of tips. So apart from my wheels where I went for some custom forged 20 inch deep concave rims I should end up with a "Hartge" X3.

The eibach springs lower the X3 30mm front and rear and the ride is still good. Bit firmer but not harsh. I wanted it mostly for the look but wanted to retain most of the existing comfort. I think the H&R springs lower the X3 about 45mm but I wanted to keep a bit more clearance as I use my X3 for trips up the mountain in the snow.

Future mods will be a BBK (complexity is the rear e-brake compatibility) and perhaps a custom air intake as there doesn't appear to be anything off the shelf for the F25. Also thinking about vinyl wrapping the roof but need to photoshop it up first.

Cheers
Paul

My guess and its only a guess is that they won't for awhile. There doesn't really appear to be much of a market for performance mods for the X3. Not sure why as I think it is a great car to mod but perhaps reflects the family orientated buyer... BMW should really release a true X3M but they will probably just do an X4M instead...

Just installed the hartge engine module, accelerator booster and supersprint exhaust. It's a totally different car. Pictures to follow in the next few days.

I can't wait man. Did you get the entire Supersprint exhaust system or just the muffler with quad tips? The website wasn't very clear on how to purchase each individual pieces.

Hi Paul,

From what I heard from my service person if we do any type of performance chip it will be flagged from the service department and you run the risk of voiding your warranty.
