We can only dream I missed out the light package have no lights by door, glove compartment and vanity mirror but have lights on door handles with comfort access go figure why lights package is not standard like previous BMWs

My 2015 with HUD and lane detection has the small compartment. I wish it was just a LITTLE bigger.

Thank you for replying - you made my day! I was concerned that either or both of these options might rule out the secondary dash storage compartment.

Happy to hear that my 2015 X3 will likely have it. I've grown very fond of this storage space since discovering it in my 2014 X3. Perfect for items which I need to keep close at hand, but out of sight. Again, thanks and regards. -scr

I agree completely - a car this price it should all be standard. I specc'd extended storage at £330 and I do have the small compartment between steering wheel and drivers door. UK 2014 LCI model 2.0D SE. I dont know if this comes as standard if you you dont specify extended storage.

I have a 2015 2.8 with Premium, Cold Weather, and Driver Assist packages, and I have the compartment. When I was taking delivery the salesman was walking through the list of features, and he would check his list of which options I got before he would tell me about it. With that compartment he didn't hesitate, just told me it was there for my sunglasses and went on like it was available as standard.

I had it in my 2013 X3 and it's in my 2015 X3. I find it very handy for storing my sunglasses, cleaning cloths and spare keys for the Thule when its mounted. The funny thing is it's not listed/detailed on either of the manufacturers window stickers.

On the flip side, you can easily forget closing the glove box door. I did forget to close the glove box couple of times and both the times, the open glove box door hit below my knee pretty badly when, getting into the car. The door did not break though. Thought, BMW did not do enough thinking while designing the glove box door. I drive 2015 35i.
