Tyre wear
Hello everyone
Yesterday I collected my car after a isofix recall repair. The dealer took the liberty to carry out a health check and noted down the below about millimeters of thread left on inner, middle and outer tyre. NFS: 4.4, 4.6, 4.4 OSF(driver side): 4.0, 4.2, 4.4 OSR: 5.0, 5.2, 5.4 NSR: 5.2, 5.0, 5.0 The car is 12 months old, has done just over 8,000 miles, staggered pirelli runflat tyres with 19 inch alloys, mostly done short journey in areas with lots of elevation change, many roundabouts on gradient and generally poor British roads. Is the tyre wear as you would expect? The inner driver side tyres is wearing quickly. Is it alignment related, if so, will I have to pay for a realignment? What's the outlook for my tyres in the next 6 months? Thanks

I have experience from 20" staggered Pirelli P ZERO Run Flats:
-overall wear is high . New are 9 mm. -wear is even - no problem there. -yes an alignment would cost you - no need. -my wear is larger in rear, due to rear wheel drive bias and 300+ bhp? -since you started with 9 mm, you can do the math. Legally, I believe you should have about 2mm, and being in the UK, I would not cheat too much Michelin has best history of tyre wear,but expensive. |

Lots of short journeys with stop and start .. lots of accelerating and decelerating .. possibly static steering wheel movements ... are likely to have an impact on front tyre wear more so than rear Bearing in mind the X3 is a heavy car ., you've lost 3mm in 8k and have another 3mm or so till they hit legal limit .. so possible 16k out of fronts .. not bad really Slight uneven wear not really an issue .., quite normal If one side of tyre was down a couple of mm then I'd be concerned Fwiw my car does mostly long journeys . I'm at about 3-4mm on 20k

@Crassus
You wear is normal for that mileage. About the same as I had with similar mileage with X3 xDrive30d MSport with 19" Staggered setup. As you are most likely aware in the UK the legal limit 1.5mm is minimum tread depth with BMW recommending to go no lower than 3mm.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll try to drive a bit cautiously in hope that the tyres will last another 6-10 months before I replace the car with the G01.

I have Pirelli P7 Cinturato on 17" wheels
Just replaced fronts with new P7s after 36k miles in 3 years; rears still have 5-6mm tread left LCI 2.0D SE Non Run Flats I don't think I am driving like a wuss! Maybe non-run flats make a difference? |

I do not think you are driving like a Wuss! The 3 litre engines on larger wheels tend to wear the tyres out quicker for a variety of reasons that I do need to into here.
