Getting Tire Pressures Right--the Easy Way

Hello
Getting tire pressures all correct is not rocket science, but I always struggled with the process. I sat down and listed the features I wanted. Then I found this one. Ergonomics is very important to me, and this one looks like it will allow me to set my tire pressures very easily. I do have a compressor in my shop, and the one hand operation with the straight on fitting is ideal for me. I like that it can increase the pressure or bleed it down to the number I want.

I ordered one and it should be here Friday. I will let you know how it works out. $55, free shipping, Ebay.

Digital Tire Inflator

Hello all
I got the 3018 Digital Tire Inflator/deflator yesterday (see post above for details). It arrived 2 days early. It works as advertised. Does everything I want. Its easy to set the pressure to 0.1 psi. Its ergonomically sound. It operates very easy, and you do not need three hands. The clip at the tire stays on nicely and does not leak. It even comes with 2 sets of AAA batteries. I honestly cannot think of how to make this a better product. Its rated accuracy is +/- 1.2 psi and it looks like they tested it and provide a sticker. I found this was the best accuracy when I looked up the specs that are quoted. Remember that this is accuracy, meaning that the value read is correct to the quoted tolorance. You can still tune the pressure to 0.1 psi, meaning that you can set left to right and fron to back to higher precision. Google accuracy vs precision if you are confused. I have no financial or personal connection with this company.

I've used the similar (and similarly-priced) Griot's branded inflator for years and find it superb.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same inflator, modified for Griot's branding - except the Griot's seems to be the original version with rubber hose and CR batteries.
Thanks for the post.

Inflator

That looks like a good tire gage. Features I found very handy in the new one were:

1. Straight on, not 45 degree nozzle
2. Inflator/deflator to get the exact reading
3. Attachment without holding it on there
4. Calibrated and spec'd the accuracy
5. Resolution of 0.1 psi, so that meant digital and batteries.

I still have a couple of Dragers that are very nice--made in Germany of course. Still work after all these years. Had them since the 60's. Don't expect the new one to last that long. I wish I could get the Drager with the straight on fitting, but they seemed to discontinue those after I lost my first one in a 911S that made a one way trip to the Airport.
