Just ordered my x3 I am worried about these problems Do I cancel?

I just ordered a x3 and I looked at every suv out there and for size and space it came down between the x3 the Q5 and the RX350 Lexus. The Q5 was way to small. I see that several guys have had huge production issues. I am worried that BMW will have a huge recall on these X3's what do I do stick it out or cancel and wait 6 months. I am driving my 2010 Audi S4 right now so I can wait.

Have you ever heard of a huge BMW recall? Huge production issues? Where? Haven't read any here. Wait 6 months? Why? By the end of 2010 BMW had produced about 6,000 X3s. When will be safe to buy? After 12,000?

on this board there have been a couple of reports of some fairly minor things - some paint/adhesive issue and a seat issue - both of which the dealers were able to fix in a day or so. haven't heard of any other major issues. have had mine for 2 weeks and LOVE it. and didn't you see the commercials? if they can drive an X3 on the moon do you really they'll have to do a recall? Joy wants you to have it all!

I think I've read of three problems.
1- Back seat assembly loose. Fixed by dealership.
2- Paint issues. Fixed by dealership.
3- Oil level sensor problem. Fixed by dealership.

So out of all the owners here, there have been three people who have experienced minor problems. I wouldn't be too concerned.

FWIW, a good friend of mine is a service manager at a large volume dealership in southern California. He hasn't seen a single F25 come in for anything.

Is the S4 your only car? Are you buying the X3 for yourself? If you don't need it now, then I would suggest waiting. Maybe BMW can fix a few bugs found in earlier models.

The Q5 was way too small but you ordered an X3?! It's marginally bigger than the Q5 but there isn't much in it.

You made the right decision in any case. I'm not concerned at all about the very few reported faults.

the cargo space is very small on Q5. That's one of key decision for us to choose X3 over Q5. X3 cargo is not really big but good enough to put stroller and some other kids stuffs.

The build quality on my Jan 11 x3 35i is impressive as is the finish. I think it is better than my 2007 328i that I replaced with a 2011 A4 Quattro 6MT. You will enjoy the vastly better BMW i-drive interface over the Audi. If you are getting the 35i you will enjoy an amazing exhaust note and better performance over any Q5 version.

Geez I think you might qualify as the most unlucky X3 owner in the world.

I've seen a Belgian guy on some forums who also had some major issues with his X3.
Myself, I've test driven 3 different X3's and 1 of them had some real big issues in handling, it just didn't feel right. I believe this is a brilliant car but like with any product, there are some human interventions in the building process and these are with a certainity of 99.9999% to make errors.

I also believe the quality control in the Spartanburg or whatever it's called plant is not in par with the German quality checks

Let's hope it's better. I have see quite a few BMW quality gaffes escape Germany unnoticed...

The issue is not that an X3 cannot have severe problems; but the poster, on one of his/her first posts lists numerous problems in a rant, makes one very suspicious that he/she is just stirring up trouble. The internet is a wonderful info source, but there are those immature ppl who just stir up trouble. In the end, who cares? Anything man-made can have problems.

And, based on info I have read, the Spartanburg plant is actaully run quite well. Just because it's in America doesn't mean that it is automatically inferior to the German plants.

I know people LOVE to say that, but statistical data does not indicate that is true.
How about some facts to back that up?
