Carly 2 Users?

Picked up a Carly 2 this weekend. Downloaded and looked at the ios "lite" program but not invested in the "pro" program yet. Has any one used it yet?

Would love some feedback as well for the X4/3. I've used it on e90s, my Z4 and an X5... but they recently updated their software so that the app can only be used with their obd adaptors and ever since I haven't been able to connect to my Z or x3.

I can tell you from prior experience on my E92 that it was a very easy and effective program to use for basic coding diagnostics as well as some more advanced stuff like battery registration and service resets. Also helped me avoid a buying a few bad cars while shopping, easy to whip out the phone and pull codes to see what the dealer isn't telling you.

I went ahead and bought the new adaptor for the X3/newer BMWs and tried it out over the weekend. Coding is still limited compared to what I was able to do on my E92 in with Carly app but according to their website they're still working on releasing more updates.

All-in all it's a pretty decent set up and what's available now is certainly convenient. I liked being able to code the auto high beam assist to always on as well as some of the welcome home light options and the window operation after doors open. Once idrive and other modules are unlocked like on the F series 3 series it will definitely be worth the money.

CARLY

Resurrecting this older thread since CARLY's usefulness for F26 cars recently has improved. CARLY is now reading five of six CPUs on my car with a ton of basic options to be coded at very little risk.

Is it possible to code the display of text messages. I have idrive 5 and BMW have blocked the functionality in Australia.

Not sure. I will check in about a week when I will be reunited with my car and CARLY.

Any concerns using Carly? I was going to order one but have seen some posts on the X5 forum where some people think it killed their FRM? I also saw a note about needing a battery charger hooked up when using it?

You don't need a battery charger. Instead, keep the car running if you are having a long(er) session. It is recommended anyway, as this increase the number of modules Carly can "see." Carly is pretty idiot proof, although you have the usual warnings/disclaimers popping up.
Can you post a link to the trouble with the X5's?

Here is one...

There were others as well related to X5's and E90's. I am going to assume it's probably a fluke and it works well overall. I probably will not use it right away and confirm everything is working well on my car before making any changes.

Hmm,
The guy admits his battery was low....

Ive seen a couple of posts about fried FRMs, but its not just Carly, people have had this with various coding methods.

Ive ordered mine on the basis of excellent amazon and apple app store feedback...

Im sure it will be fine..... I will only code mine with the engine running....

I agree, it sounds like the best bet is to have it running. Let us know how it goes!

I am surprised he wasn't able to re-load the backed up (original) version of the FRM software. I mean what is the point of a backup if BMWhat couldn't use it? I also note that he must have been using the older version of the adapter since he talking about BMWhat - not CARLY.
