Alignment after replacing rear springs?
I'm having the rear springs replaced on my X3 35i with DHP. Is it necessary to have an alignment after?

You should. Diff springs will change the geometry of your suspension and if any suspension bolts are removed to enable spring replacement, that too can cause your alignment to be off. Not by much but will impact the longevity of your tires. You didn't mention anything about tires but before having the alignment would be the best time to put new tires on.

I'm scheduled to leave tomorrow for a 2400 mile drive. When I get there I can get an alignment done. Do you think there will be sufficient wear to the tires in that length of mileage? Would I notice anything else without having an alignment?

I got the springs replaced by the middle of the afternoon and had enough time to get it aligned but it was tight. I'm glad I did since it was definitely out of alignment. I hadn't had it done in a year and with all the crappy roads I felt like I better do it before I got out there. Left the next morning early and after 1300 miles so far the car is running great. Thanks for all the advice.

Nice. I'm a bit late but would have said alignment for sure. The classic "it depends" answer. If it wasn't far off, it could have been skipped. If it was pretty far off you could have wear issues in just a few hundred miles, and actually be a little unsafe as well especially if there was any snow or ice.
