Need some inexpensive tires for X3
My mom has an X3 that is going back from the lease in a few months but the tires are currently bald and unsafe so she must buy new tires, but it doesnt make sense to me to buy expensive tires and turn them in a few months later on the car, so I think she should get some inexpensive tires, I jumped on tirerack and was wondering if any of you have used these. My only concern is these seem to be passenger tires and not SUV/ Light truck.
What are your thoughts, and what have those of you been putting on the car, those of you that are trading the cars back in. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....nSpeedRating=H or http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....nSpeedRating=H FYI: they are the standard 17" wheels on the 2006 3.0 |

if your mom's lease is expiring soon, i would throw the Kumho's on there (unless she has to deal with snow). she's, in essence, throwing money away, as she'll never see the full life of the tires. she just needs to get through a couple of months with these and return the car.
i wouldn't worry too much about the tires being "car" tires vs. "light truck" tires. i run "car" tires on my pickup, and have never had a problem. it's more a distinction for weight carrying load than anything else (if you check your mom's X3, she's probably got car tires on them. check it out by reading the size. unless it says "LT" on the size, it's not a light truck tire).

I have the Kumho ectsa platinums, great tire. Very impressive water dispersion in heavy rain and great in snow for an all season tire. Have over 22k miles on em so far and expect to get about another 5 to 7k miles if I am gentle on em.
