Playing DVDs Without Navigation
I have the 2.8 model without the navigation, but it won't play DVDs???
Does anyone know if navigation is a requirement or does a warranty claim be required?

I have the same problem as you and went through many hurdles to find out that I just have to accept that I can't play videos and DVDs.
From what the dealer told me, no navigation = no DVD player. I then went and try going down the route of playing videos through iPod. But the snap-in adapter that you can buy for about $200-300 does not support my iPod classic. I was also told even if it supported it, you need to have about 3-4 options added initially to be able play video from the snap-in. It seems there are additional pins that the snap-in connects to for video. Also, all the options can only be factory fitted. It seems someone wanted to put a DVD player into an X5 and BMW quoted them 15k to do it. I wish they would have explained more about the options when I was buying my car. The explanations just aren't detailed enough and I am pretty sure even sales people don't know what most of the options actually mean. |
