Anyone have wind noise coming through driver's side window?

Just got me new X3 last week and I have some loud wind noise coming through the driver's side window. Didn't think a new car should have this and am going to get it looked at.

Anyone else have this?

Absolutely not on mine. I have been extremely impressed with how the X3 slices through the wind.

My guess is there is a seal issue or something miss-aligned, you should have your dealer take a look.

Not here either. Surprisingly quiet.

. . . unless, maybe, you're driving a lot faster than me!

My X3 is pretty good but my X5 had a horrible whistling noise which took three trips to the dealer for adjustments to the side mirror before it got fixed.

I have a new X3 and I DO have a great deal of wind noise from the driver's window. Noticed it as soon as I drove the car off the lot.

I brought it into the dealer's service area and they checked it and acknowledged that the wind noise was excessive. They ordered a new door seal which, they say, needs to be shipped from Germany. It has been just about 2 weeks and it still has not shown up.

There have been some other reports of excessive wind noise on some of the early X3's, and most folks say that it was due to a misaligned door seal.

That seems to explain what others are or have experienced, thanks for the information and good luck with your repair.

Thanks

I have the same problem, every time I have to open the window and close it again and then the noise will be much better, but it is not going away. Will check with dealer as well this week.

I had the door seal replaced and the noise has lessened, but has not gone away completely. Its been very windy here in north Texas since the repair work was performed last week, so I am holding off judgment till the wind dies down.

The dealer ordered the door seals almost two weeks ago and they are coming from Germany. Hopefully they will be in soon and then my car should be perfect!

I thought it's a common problem for German Cars regarding the wind noise.... hum.. I didn't know the dealer will do something about it.

Sent car to dealer last week and here is what I got:

(....other problems not related with wind noise...)

The last problem is loud wind noise from drive side after 110 km/h (most time I drive around 110km/h-120km/h), so I ask them to check, and they told me they will not test drive any car over 100 km/h... (are you kidding me? the speedometer shows over 200km/h! why don't BMW just set it to 100km/h max?) , so I am still living with my wind noise every day.(the wind noise just like your car window is not fully closed, not noise outside your car.)

100km/h? Unless my math is whacked, that's 62 MPH. They won't drive it that fast???

Tell 'em you'll take 'em for a ride then.

And if they refuse, pull one of them into your X3, close the door and drive off. Ensure your doors are on automatic lock and just keep accelerating up to the wind noise speed

The wind noise problem that I had was occurring at at low speeds as well. They replaced the door seals and the wind noise has lessened, but has not totally gone away.

I noticed a lot of wind when I was driving today too. Will need to take it into the dealer for an evaluation.

Amusing (to me at least) that the email notification for this thread appears on my iPhone as:
