Hopefully a lot better than that. If they're really that bad they need to switch back to normal tires, or at least leave a spot under the trunk for a spare.

I've only had 1 flat (knock on wood) in my life (normal tires), after hitting a pot hole I thought would knock my teeth out.

As DUKAT posted, I got the BMW Wheel/Tire insurance so I have unlimited replacements and it's hassle free at any BMW dealer. It is nice to be able to drive these crap roads stress free.

Guys, what the RFT is an RFT? Usually I'm able to figure out what an abbreviation means. but RFT? Rear Front Tire?

Anyway, what also interests me is why you would need insurance for your wheels. American roads aren't that bad are they? Just out of curiosity!

People on the 5 series forum were complaining about the LS2's bubbling:

Let's hope this isn't the case for the X's....

RFT = Run Flat Tire

In general roads aren't that bad, but lately we have been getting more pot holes than I remember growing up.

The real issue are the run flat tires. They cost quite a bit more than normal tires and seem to be much more likely to get damaged.
To my knowledge BMW is the only company that doesn't offer any option to RFT's. You can install normal tires yourself but there's no place for a spare.

I'd not at all picked up on the "bubble" problem with some RFTs. My previous car was a an E93 with Michelin RFTs, I found them to be really robust, no one bubble in 3 years. Whereas over 5 years driving two E46's on non-RFTs I had 4 bubbles, the tyre guys said this was pretty common on profiles lower than 50.

I hope the Pirelli RFTs on my F25 are robust....actually that's my gripe with RFTs - they are too damned robust and uncompliant. I suppose it's all down to the tyre manufacturer and their specific design.
