Wrecked my X3
Sad news. Wrecked my X3 on Friday. Hit a food delivery driver. I thought it was minor front collision as my car was drivable but the insurance adjuster called and said the damage would be $8k. He said if it had been a domestic car the damage would be $2k. He was telling me that the light clusters are $1.4k alone. This will probably not qualify for "Accident Forgiveness" haha. It will take about 1.5 weeks to get parts and 1.5 weeks to fix. The car is at a nice family owned body shop that does solid work. They fixed my old E90. The person I hit is filing a medical claim and if it could not get worse Enterprise only had a Town & County available. So for the next 3 weeks I have to drive a stupid vehicle because I was stupid.

Even $2k of damage following hitting a person sounds bad for the person. What happened to the person and what happened to the car?

Hitting a person is a serious event, you seem more concerned about your image and having to drive an "inferior" car. Meh.

I have been hit twice over the years and had whiplash.
Too many scammers out there but even the smallest bump can cause a lot of pain, 3 years after the last bump and neck still is not 100%

I do not have pics as the wreck was Friday night but I will see if I can get some. I hit a food delivery vehicle and not a person. I was suspect on the medical claims because the individual had family and friends come by and make suggestions on his story. My post was to point out the parts for the X3 are expensive even in small fender benders. For example each front light assembly is $1.4k each, hood $0.6k, bumper cover $0.6k.

These are the only pics the insurance company took. I know they are not very good at representing the wreck but a minor front end wreck caused a lot to be replaced externally and internally.

That doesn't look all that bad, any wreck you can walk away from...
As to the potential scammer, that's why I have an umbrella policy and full coverage, even with a paid for car. |
