Tire & Wheel Protection

There are still a couple of weeks before I got pick up my X3 at Spartanburg so I wanted some suggestions if I should get this insurance or not. I initially thought it was a great idea if something happened but the more I think about the more I think it's useless. If something was to happen, it's just an excuse to get new rims and wheels right??

Thanks.

I didn't go for expensive tire insurance. I had a big nail in my front right run flat tire, bought a new one from Costco for just $221. This seems to be a cheap deal for me.

Signed the paperwork for my car (pickup at the PCD on 1/13/12). In Atlanta, we seem to have nails on the roads everywhere. Between my wife's car (Mini Cooper) and my car (e90), we've probably had 6 flats in the past 3 years.
It was easy saying no to the other crap the finance guy wanted me to get, but I went for the tire coverage based on my experience with my e90 and the Atlanta roads.

He started at $1049 for 3 years, but I got him down to $899 for 5 years. It's the BMW/Safe-Guard coverage. I've read a bunch of threads about this and am thinking that if I can get piece of mind for 5 years, and 2 or 3 tires out of it somewhere along the way, it pays for itself. I checked on tirerack, and new tires are $300+ each. Also, instead of a patch in the case of a flat, I get a new tire.

What do you guys think? I have 30 days to cancel and get my money back. Also, any experience with Safe-Guard? I can't seem to find that on any of the boards, like if it's no questions asked when it comes time to make a claim, or if the will be hard-asses. I know and understand the 2/32" rule.
