In my 2.0d I've averaged 42.0 mpg from new, on a full tank the range is approx. 600 miles. On a long'ish run (over 40 miles) it will average over 45 mpg easily.

I run it in comfort mode 99% of the time, and have stock 18" rft's (P7's).

Air con hammers the mpg as does a heavy right foot!

Sorry all, I missed that this thread was specific to the 2.0d when I posted...

Can anyone comment on whether a "break-in" period will affect mileage? My new 2014 X3 28i has less than 1000 km on it, and I'm only getting 12~14 mpg (~20 L/100 km). This is relaxed city driving in "Comfort" mode. Granted, the weather has been cold (-20C) here, but in my experience that has never halved expected fuel economy.

Certainly ours has got better - after about 10K miles...

Also I am checking but I think the winter tyres (none rft) give a better MPG. Our long run to Austria (see above) was on those.

On the few times I do take it easy and sit at 70-75 on motorway the car easily manages 45mpg.

We get an average of 36mpg over a tank on a mix of town school run and cross country to work commute. Running on 18" runflats, currently with Continental TS winter tyres. Total mileage 10.500 miles.

It was of sufficient concern that I was going to ask the dealer to have a look at it, but then remembered that the previous car, an E91 320d did an average of 39mpg. As a comparison, an F11 520d does 41mpg on the same run with the same driver.
