3.0d MPG at 50MPH

Hi,

Just a note on the impressive MPG I managed while driving through the road works on the M6 yesterday. Average was 66 MPG over 10 miles. Dropped to 40 MPG when I was back up to my normal motorway speed.

Caveats- 1)rolling start i.e. I reset the MPG when I was doing 50 already; 2)the car was already warmed up. 3)Car was in comfort mode, and I pre-selected 8th gear for the journey 4)the 10 miles were flatish (no hills)

I managed 54-56 (peak) on a long journey a while back; smallish A roads, but in Eco mode with the featherest right foot I could possibly get away with. It was fun for a while as game, but heck, boring as hell :-)

66 is pretty amazing tho!
