Hi all

I have made a big mistake. Ordered the extras that I wanted for our new X3, but forgot my wife's one ask: sun protection glass.

The car has now arrived at the dealers and they have suggested that they can fit a film (or rather will get it fitted by their preferred supplier) that will match the tint of factory fit. They assure me that this will be a succesful solution, but I'm unsure.

Any experiences that you all can share?

I would wait and drive vehicle for a while and see how you like it. From what i understand the windows glass is protected from uv and glare etc from the factory. The rear glass is tinted... Give it a bit... And if you still need the tint up front .. It can always be put on.

I'm in the UK, I think the spec differs from elsewhere, no factory tint to rear windows as standard. So I'm thinking about having the rear windows film tinted.

I would rather get this done before delivery, just to avoid any unwelcome conversations at home!

Just be aware that there can be a huge cost if you get the dealer to do tinting, as they mark it up something fierce. My dealer wanted $900, I can get it done by a company that has done my last two cars and home windows for $250...

Ahh! Avoid all unwelcome chat! Keep lady happy at all costs. I haven't got after market tint but lots have on this forum. See if they will warranty the work...

I have mine tinted by the dealer for CAD150.....
