DHP now. Replace with aftermarket possible?

I'm rethinking my DHP with ZMP. The reason is that I can't find a aftermarket strut!

If you get DHP, and you hold on to your car until it dies like I have before, are you forced to get OEM struts?

If you switch out to aftermarket parts, would you be forced to reprogram your vehicle?

I'm a little nervous being pigeonholed to OEM. I like the thought of getting some performance parts, but by getting DHP, it seems like I am not allowing that.

Zero Sum

You can play this mind game forever. What about the electronics themselves? Or the dash displays? I would avoid buying any new car on that basis. The alternative is to move to Havana or Nairobi or Kabul where they can probably make any car part of the original goes AWOL.

True, but the suspension parts are wear items, and we see how even new f30's get coil upgrades at delivery.

Just asking what happens when you have DHP. I've read a bunch but am no car expert and really don't understand how it fits together.

If you have dhp you would presumably want to buy oe replacement parts to retain the adjustable dampers - otherwise why bother with the option at all?

Agree - If you have made a decision to purchase DHP, you would presumably have made a decision that includes the decision to purchase OEM replacements for your limited production OEM parts.

You would also presumably have made a decision about owning a BMW after it goes out of the original Factory Warranty.

I have. Both.

They make aftermarket kits already for other vehicles, someone will probably figure out something for the X3.
