Production is complete!

The 800 # says the vehicle is at the port awaiting shipment. The web site still says Started production. I'm hoping about two weeks to get to the Los Angeles area.

Congrats, the 800 # just changed to " Your vehicle is being transported to the port of exit" and got my production video this morning. Hoping it will reach New York City in about 6-7 days.

Hi
Name is Bill I am also on Staten Island. Have a similar X3 ordered and was notified on the June 26 that auto is in production.

I was wondering when you were notified of your vehicle's production start so I can approximate my delivery date.

East coast is a much faster delivery than west coast. It took over three weeks to receive the car in San Diego after end of production.

How did you get your video? Was it sent to you or was it under the My BMW area on the web site?

I'd be surprised if the car actually went on a boat I would suspect a train would be more efficient, but I could be wrong. To put it on a boat they'd have to get it to Charleston first.

Yeah. Actually, right after I posted this, I google map'd Spartanburg to see where it was. It's about 200 miles from the nearest port. Seems like rail or truck would be more efficient.

509...Just spoke with a customer rep on the 800#. They do actually get on a boat. Our CA's should know what vessel it'll be on. Last time I tracked my car, we were able to see pictures of the boat going through the panama canal. I gotta go back into the e90 forums to see how to do it again.

Oh and BTW, I got the same notice on the 800# today too. Car is at the port awaiting shipment!!!

I'm in SF. Last time, my car arrived at Port Hueneme by Oxnard, near Santa Barbara and was trucked up from there. If you're in SoCal, I think the boat will sometimes stop at Long Beach. I'm not sure it offloads BMW's there but maybe just other cargo, then it continues up to Port Hueneme where the Vehicle Preparation Center is.

Since our cars are already purchased, they are prioritized at the VPC and shipped quickly. VPC adds about 4 - 8 miles to the ODO if I recall as they drive it from the boat to the prep.

I've got family in Oxnard. I live in the Long Beach/San Pedro area and have watched cars being unloaded at the port but never BMWs.

My CA just called and said my vehicle was already on a train (not boat) headed for Oxnard. No arrival date yet, but from Oxnard to dealer is about 2 days.

I thought the boat information from the rep was incorrect. After the car reaches Oxnard they are "checked" in. The check in process is not automatic and in itself can take a few days. Then the X3's are racked and stacked for their distribution area along with the overseas cars. When enough cars are on the truck then distribution occurs. Couple of days is probably on the quick hopeful end. Hopefully it's quick for you. For me it took a week. It was like watching paint dry.

Sorry Bill, I was on vacation so I couldn't reply. My BMW started production on June 18 and ended on June 24. Car was released to carrier on June 25 and on June 28, It is being transported to the port of exit. I also received my video today. I heard that shipping to New York is around 6-7 days after end of production.

Wink Thanks for the info

I had ordered the car on May 17th and not in a terrible rush. But when you go onto this site you kind of get a sense of enthusiasm. I am informed that the production end date is July 1. Being optimistic I figure middle of July for taking possession.
I have the same color as yours with the beige interior and the 28i.
I am sure we will pass sometime on the Island.
Thanks again
Bill

Well my dealer just called me and said my X3 is ready for pickup, but I'm on vacation so I will be picking her up on Saturday. That was really fast! Only took them from June 15 to June 29 from order to pickup. I am very impressed.
