Does your steering wheel make a noise when you turn it fast?

When I turn the wheel quickly to the left or right I hear this slight noise... Not sure if it's the electric motor, or some sort of friction .. Does yours?

Yes, mine did. It was pretty obvious. Talked to the service department and they figured out it is due to some factory defects. Got the entire steering rack changed. Now the noise is gone. The problem does not affect driving according to what they said, however, it is better for you to get it fixed.

Worrying if that's a problem, mine sounds like that.

I have the same noise of electrical hiss when turning the steering while the vehicle is stationary (ie. When parking)

Isn't there a good chance that that would be normal for a car with electrically assisted steering?

Bustofa, that's what I'm guessing, but it's a bit of an annoying noise.

Garage List
When I turn my steering wheel really fast, I hear lots of noises.... wheels hitting the curb, the crunch of metal from impacting the car in the next lane.... etc.

I was able to hear the small motor sound before I got the steering rack changed and that only happened when I turn the wheels fast. Also, when I turned the wheel back to center from right side, I could also hear loud clicking sound. After I got the rack changed, I believe they also reprogrammed the computer and now the steering feels very very light and the clicking sound is gone and the electrical motor noise seems hardly noticeable as well. I only had my 35i back for 2 days and quite satisfied with what they did to fix the problem. However, I am a little bit upset about the overall finishing of the 2 month old 'new' car. The repair work costs $3800 but it was covered by warranty.
