very likely the case, coming from a company that in the US will continue to charge additional for a backup camera until the year that they are mandated.

WIth as long as BMW charged $500 additional for a USB device and for NAV.. I would never automatically expect them to adopt new technologies for free unless by government mandate.

May 2018 is when the US Backup Camera mandate is suppose to take effect. Isn't that right in the timeframe the G01 will be released?

I really hope so. I have no want or need for Xenon or LED headlamps. Of course, by the time I am ready to replace my current X3 the generation after the G01 will be released.

I hope they will give xenon has standard option and LED as the optional option. I love xenons, I couldn't live without it, along with the heated steering wheel. From the spy photos, it looks like the rear of the G01 will look similar to the X1 and the sides like the F15.

I wonder if they will come out with a plug in hybrid just like the x5 40e. That would be where my money will be.

It's likely they will have a hybrid, but the planned all-electric X3 will also be interesting.

Xenons won't be an option. They will be replaced by LEDs which are cheaper, less complex and comparable in brightness.

I know I stated I hope Xenon's are the STANDARD option, opposed to halogen, such as on the X5 and 5 Series and LED's are optional. But if you say they will replace xenon as the Standard opposed to halogen headlights, then great.

Not for me it isn't. If that is the case I am done buying BMWs.

Was just driving south on I25 through Denver and spotted what appeared to be an G01 x3 35i. Had round dual exhaust and similar camo to the OP photos. Front end looked more squared off that the current gen. Unfortunately I couldn't safely take a picture. Had Arizona plates.

Many car manufacturers are phasing out Xenons for LEDs for the reasons I mentioned in my previous post. You can't even order an 3-Series LCI or X1 with Xenons.

The new X3 will have halogens as standard and LEDs as an option. As always, some engine options will come with the upgraded lights as standard.

Actually Audi provides Xenons standard on most of their new models (at least in the US) and LED as optional. Such as on the new A4. But perhaps your right, I'm not sure if it's going to be on a country by country basis, etc, but I guess we'll see.

Some manufacturers equip their cars better in US where there is tougher competition from better value Cadillacs, Fords, GMC, Chevrolets etc. Here in Europe, you get little for free regardless whether you buy a base engine or a more expensive one. BMW squeeze you for every convenience and fun toy you can think of. The only thing I didn't have to pay for was heated seats, which in Singapore, isn't standard on the X3 for obvious reasons.

BMW are gradually improving here but are behind Mercedes who have become more generous in the recent 1-2 years.

Sounds like Porsche in the US.

Heated Steering Wheel - $500
Heated Front Seats - $500
Heated Rear Seats - $500

Premium Package - Auto Dimming Mirrors, Bose Sound System, Panoramic Sunroof.

I remember pricing out a Macan S and thinking WTH?

I figured it was the x3. Seemed too big for X1, and not the shape of the p-car.

Odd I'm only getting a reply update from you now, but hey, the new G01 taillights do look like the 7 Series. Great Style!

I came across this yesterday while driving on the PCH in Santa Monica yesterday. Too bad my wife couldn't take better pictures . Funny thing I was "screaming"at her to take pictures of the car, while she was asking me why, what's so special about it,lol.
