Ticking Noise

I have a 2013 x3 28i with 2500 miles. Every time I start it after it sits overnight or for a few hours I hear a ticking noise from the engine. Once it warms up it goes away. Also the oil temp gauge seems to take forever to register a change in temp. about 4 miles. Anyone else experience this?

No personal experience here, but from all of the reviews I've read on the 2.0 liter turbo engine, it sounds like the sounds you are hearing are normal and that they go away as the engine warms up sounds normal too.

Many people have compared the sounds that the 2.0 liter turbo N20 engine makes when cold to diesel motors. I'm pretty sure you should stop worrying about it!

Totally normal. It's the turbos.

Normal. Most vehicles, especially domestics, have a temp gauge that represents the water/coolant temp and not oil temp like the BMW does. Water temps climb quicker than the oil temp.

She's-a-gonna-blow!! Quick, hide!!

Just kidding, the ticking sound is normal. My 4 mile X3 also had it when I picked it up.
