I think the back seat would offer more protection than a net

Oh sorry I was referring to the floor rail and anchors to attach things like a BBQ propane tank.

Must say that the storage pack is excellent , especially for the net on the side of the boot, rear armrest cup holders for the kids, drivers side glovebox, boot rails. Don't intend to stuff the seat back nets but the kids do when on along journey, although they are a bit small, and should really be standard at this price. You would be stupid to carry kids and not tie down loose items or invest in the seperating net - but people like to waste money on asthetics. Sfax, you need to comment on your own spec, not others.

I think some of the storage pack is short on functionality but the rails tidy up the edges of the boot recess, the nets on the back of the front seats break up the slab of plastic, the small driver's side glovebox is a bonus (i didn't realise it was included until earlier this week) and my daughter thinks the cup holders in the rear armrest are cool. It should come as standard on a car at this price entry.

You can clearly see it in the 15th picture here:

The x3 has fixed tie-downs instead of the sliding ones in the back when the storage pack isn't ordered so don't worry about safety.
