tire recommendation?

I have a 2012 X3 35i and need new tires. I am going with regular tires as i think the Run flats are not needed and are way too expensive for what they provide. I live in an area where its mostly sunny. Any recommendations?

Thanks

I usually look on eBay. Some people are selling brand new Chinese branded Michelin's for about 1/4th of the price off TireRack. I've never had an issue and those have kept a lot more cash in my wallet for gas money.

Tire companies are going to hate us, but you'll be able to outsmart them with one other simple trick. You can buy used tires and re-tread them with something as simple as a box cutter.

when it comes to tires, dont be cheap when you drive 50k vehicle.
Its fine to go with regular tire as suppose with runflats.

you can go with summer tire or all season tire, if you dont have winter season.

I had RFT on my 335 and when i switched to cheap non run flats i learned my lesson, good thing was that when i called the tire place they said to come back and they will give me better tires for a bit more money, thank god, cause the new tires are so much better..

i may pull the trigger on the new DWS06 tires, non rft . Just buy the kit in case of flat.

just go on tire rack, go by the selection given. Shop around with local tire shop for better prices.

Great, I'll check with discount tire as they are local if they have these or can get these for me. The kit looks really good, way better than buying RFT.

Thanks again.

forgot to mention, but i heard if you use this kit, you will need to replace your TPMS sensors otherwise you will get a warning light every time you start the car.

People who are not fond of sealant - like tire shops - claim that sealant will destroy the valve in your TPMS. I don`t buy that - but it might be true.

So, if a puncture - sealent - you might have to replace that specific sensor - less than $100. Since punctures are rare it is not much of a threat.

NOTE: there are "pirate" sensors that can be programmed for your vehicle - I have four, for my winterwheels They might not have same life as original. We are talking 3-5 years instead of 5-7 years

The Contis are all you need in the desert.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...fortkit&page=2 -- check page 2, it looks like you can clean the TPMS sensor once the tire is off and being repaired.. I don't care really, i can replace the TPMS sensor or try to clean once the tire is off and being fixed..

order for tires or the conticomfortkit? I found "Slime Safety Spair" that could work as well and it doesn't mess with the TPMS.

Beware of the Wolf!

I don`t trust people claiming slime will - always - destroy your TPMS valves.

Also I don`t - until proved otherwise - believe that Slime Safety Spair, will never destroy your valves.

That said - enjoy your slime, you will probably never need it

By that logic, if you prefill your tires with slime, you will never have to worry about a flat tire. It will always be sealed.

I agree, I am trying to decide which one is the best option from the following:

1- conticomfortkit
2- The slime spair
3- BMW one

Since you will probably not need it, I would go for EL Cheapo.

I took this discussion as an Omen, and just ordered a similar kit from Amazon UK, at a cost of £24 (no postage within UK), but for me £31.

I need it -for peace of mind - for my winter tires.

It is a bit scarey, since they saved my details fom last purchase about a year ago, and now just needed my details, including personal code, but not card nr nor electronic gizmo.

Got you, I just don't want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere with a flat tire...
