Hello everyone, I have a question.

I have a 2011 BMW X3 xDrive28i.

I contacted a few mechanic shops in Richmond Hill, Ontario (Canada) to whom I indicated that I need the following:

- Transfer case fluid change
- Transfer case actuator gear change

They told me that it was not possible to change the transfer case actuator gear and that I had to buy the complete transfer case since BMW changed the design since 2011. Is this correct? Can't this simple plastic part be changed?

In case someone wants to help me and needs more details, my VIN is 5UXWX5C55BL704060

Thank you very much to all of you for helping me to get out of doubts.

Previous models had the plastic gear actuator….may i ask why you think you need that part? The TC on the ‘11 and up are pretty solid with proper maintenance.

it still has a plastic gear inside the actuator (Item 12). You can replace it if you want but BMW made the gear from a stronger material than the last problematic ATC. There are different vendors out there that sell the gear.
