A/C blows warmer on passenger side

It seems a bit strange that the A/C on my 2005 X3 2.5i blows warmer only on the passenger side, and the overall temperature it not as cold as it should be. Could this reflect the air flow direction from left to right or something more serious?

Garage List
Is it a dual-zone climate control i.e. passenger and driver sides has different temperature control?

My BMW 740i had a the same problem, and the way to fix that was to turn passenger side to minimum and drivers side to max for a few minutes, then reverse the temp settings and run it for another few minutes on max blower. This apparently balances the system.

If it's not dual-climate, try running it on max and then min for a few minutes. Alternatively the cooling system may need bleeding, but I don't know how to do that.

Last thought: check that your cooling system (the radiator header tank) has enough water in it.

You need a refrigerant recharge and a check for leaks in the a/c system. I just has this done last week in my 2006 X3 with 85k miles. I last had it done around 2 years ago, and neither time the leak could be found. When the refrigerant level drops, the passenger air will be warmer than the driver's. I don't know why, but that's how it is. It's not a dual zone AC.
It cost me over $200 US at the dealer.

That's good info, and I will take it to my dealer for an A/C charge!

I'm having the same problem with cool air only on passenger side. I had an 2004 X3 that did the same; I added more coolant and it worked. I now have a 2007 X3 that started to do the same. The pressure was full, I didn't want to overcharge, so I released enough pressure and added new refrigerant. Now it's not blowing cold at all. There are no leaks and the compressor is working. Can anyone advise? If the Air Quality Sensor is out; could that cause this problem?

Disregard my previous posting; the gauge I was using wasn't reading correctly. I recharged it with new coolant and it's working great.

I had this same problem with my 2010 E83, and adding refrigerant solved the issue. Had a temp of 72F on driver's side, and 90° on passenger side. After refilling had 54° on both sides.
