We've just spied the X3 LCI (Life Cycle Impulse, AKA "facelift) prototype for the first time. As seen on the mule, the X3 LCI will receive an update front and rear bumper, side mirrors, and headlights, as has been the pattern for recent BMW LCI models.

The headlight shape does not appear to be changing, but we may see updated lighting elements within the headlights, as we did with the recent 7 Series LCI. We do not anticipate that the headlights will be connected with the kidney grilles (in keeping with BMW's current and future styling trend) and the camouflage doesn't appear to be hiding such a change.

The side mirrors will get shapelier and lose their blocky squared-off shape. The interior has not been spied yet, but we'll bring those to you as soon as it's been seen.

If the recent F01 7-series LCI testing timeline is any indication, expect the X3 LCI to be unveiled sometime next Spring-Summer, for a Fall market release. The next facelifted BMW model to receive its debut will be the 2013 Z4, which has already been spied, and is expected to debut early next year.

Interesting - a black grill and changes to front and rear on M Sport.

I hope one day there will be an M Performance version (or ideally X3M but not holding my breath for that anymore).

"LCI" (Lifecycle Impulse) models... Year '4' of the car.

Perhaps there are changes to permit diesel in NA... one can wish.

i'm a big fan of the x3 (as most americans are) - i hope the change the "cutesy" fog light placement on the current one. surprised they are not doing anything with the rear lights (maybe just LED elements) and i really hope they give the 35i a proper split tip exhaust keeping it inline with other 35i models. these visual change will help it keep up with the q5, which, IMO is the better looking SUV.

MY 2014, huh? hard to believe the f25 is already 3 model years in. feel like it just came out. any news on the F10 LCI?

With the n20 motor, I don't think there's room for a diesel. I don't see the 6cyl diesel gaining anymore mpg over the n20. The n20 also offers sufficient torque and with the towing capacity set at 3500, limited by wheelbase and curbweight, I don't see a need for anymore?

if you look at the European BMW sites, the 30d diesel does indeed offer an improvement in efficiency (noticable) over the N20 and more performance too.

The changes bring the entire BMW SAV line into one and prepares the market for the latest models.

With the X3 LCi follows in 2015 the BMW X5 and then the BMW X4.
And then in 2015 brings the sub-compact BMW FAST, BMW X6 and all-new BMW X1 - Which I have seen and is looking great.

And then in 2016 we will see the MINI Paceman of the BMW X1 - The BMW X2and then if thing stay on course the BMW X7 Luxo Sport AV in early 2017.

Hey Jason,

Is this confirmed?

If production starts in July, then they should be available in August/September correct?

I hope that is not the LCI front / rear of a X3 Msport. The above spyshots look like they used a 2013 X3 Msport and added the bits to test. IMO it would not be as agressive looking as the current Msport. I can see where this aesthetic makes room for future X4, X4M and hopefully a X3M.

More models.... great.

I hope they take some lessons from what they have done with the Mini brand in that more variants is not always a better thing.

+1 on the same question. Is the F10 LCI confirmed for next year indeed? Perhaps Scott can also confirm.

The 5-series GT is due for a LCI per 'usual' BMW timelines (4yrs), but the F10 technically would be a yr later.

I imagine if there is indeed a LCI next summer (2013), it would affect the F10 M5?

It would affect the M5 for sure!

My guess is LED tails, square angel eyes and possibly full LED headlights like the F12/3 6 series. And of course some minor interior changes perhaps, similar to what we saw in the 2008 E60 5 series

Indeed, hoping for the same as the LCI M5 is my next purchase, just hope I don't have to hold off 2 yrs for it

On your (wish) list above, I would add the M6 steering wheel and touchpad iDrive.

Funny you say that about the M6 steering wheel and the touchpad iDrive because I do believe that the touchpad iDrive will be there for sure. Not so certain that the M6 steering wheel will be present! Lets not hijack the X3 thread....lets make a thread on the LCI F10 M5 and post all forthcoming information there?

3rd row?

Is this getting third row seating (as BMW had contemplated before launching the current X3)? If not, then I'll pass - If a SUV can't carry more than 5 passengers, I'll just get a bigger sedan!

If this is actually the case and they do end up being quieter, that would be an awesome retrofit.
