X3 35i M Sport Vermillion Red, order to arrival

I will update this thread as I go, including pictures once the car is received. Just wanted to give a timeline and order details for anyone interested. I have other threads of dealer issues that I will not include in this one.

-Saturday Oct 8, car ordered (dealer ordering system down, not entered until Monday Oct 10), that night bmwusa.com shows "order documented"

-Monday Oct 17, car shown as "production begins" on bmwusa.com

-Wednesday Oct 26, dealer calls saying he has the car (can't pick it up since I am on vacation)

-Thursday Nov 3, finally took delivery! everything went great except for a paint chip on the passenger front door handle! Dealer gave me an I owe you for it to be fixed (either painted or replaced). the spot it is in makes it appear like a factory paint defect and not chipped after the fact.

Video

http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...berid=10102177

MSRP $55,125, discount of $3,125 with me also agreeing to a trade in offer that equaled what Carmax offered me.

Specs:
2012 X3 35i
-Vermillion Red
-Black Nevada Leather
-Brushed Aluminum trim
-Premium Package
-Technology Package
-Premium Sound Package (now with sat radio which my wife will never use)
-Cold Weather I package (heated seats, steering wheel, tri fold seats, wasn't going to get this, but only $200 more than heated seats...)
-M Sport package

No other options, no BMW apps as my wife has a blackberry for work and will drive the car 90% of the time...

Good luck and enjoy the process of waiting. I would still have opted for BMW Apps.... at $250 it is not a big investment, and one never knows what the future may bring. You'll change phones several times probably before you change cars.

I thought about that, but her company will never switch from the blackberry. If I could use the BMW apps for $250 with my iphone I would have gotten it but I am not about to spend another $300 after taxes on the adapter for a car I will drive once a week at the most. Thats the problem with the BMW apps, its not a $250 investment its really about $550 with the craddle. If this was my daily driver I would have probably gotten it, along with the HUD and DHP, would have made it a $58K X3, and at that point would have just waited for the true M version. Heck I might still get the X3M, trade in my C63 for it and have 2 X3's

$250 for BMW apps isn't that bad but I think charging $300 for the cradle is ridiculous. That cradle should be $50 tops.

just wanted to update this with pictures, just garage pics for now, more when I have more time...

And the V Red is an amazing color, totally changes in sunlight and shadows/clouds, best way to describe it as changing from a vibrant red to a ruby red

Probably both. SLR makes everything look better but the V Red is stunning especially with m package, I love the shadowline ext trim. I think I like the X3 more than my C63 (okay maybe not but it's close).

almost got into a few accidents playing with the tech toys (far more than the C63). I have read a few complaints about the ride, maybe for those coming from other BMWs that is an issue, but coming from the LR2 (and my C63 which lets you feel every groove in the road) the ride is great! Seat comfort is good with the sport seats and even on 19" wheels and run flats, I am 100% happy with the ride comfort. My wife loves the handling compared to our old beast and the funny thing is that its not because of weight, the LR2 only weighs 100 pounds more (2.4%) but it was 6 inches taller, big difference!
