Tire Pressure Loss warning on all 4?
This morning, i had that warning on the motorway, with recommendation I drive at less than 60 and check the tires.
I checked the tire (quite honestly, for the first time) and they were over on one side (40ish) and sorta normal on the other (34 ish) ... thats strange, because the recommendation says 30 at the front, and 32 at the back... Anyway I put 33 at the front and 35 at the back, as I prefer a firmer ride... Anyway, what could explain a warning indicating all FOUR wheels? I hadn't driven the car in 2 days, and it's very very very hot for this country, I've been wondering if that hasn't tripped the sensor somenow...

When the tyre sensor alarms, it does not show which corner it is for.
All 4 tyres need to be checked to determine which one it is alarming for. HTH

To expand a little on what Broch said, for us in those markets that have the indirect TPMS which uses the cars ABS system to detect a variance in rotation between the tyres as a means to detect a low pressure. This system can't actually detect which tyre has the lower pressure - only that there is a variance. Hence it alarms on all four tyres and then you have to find out which one is low.
First time it happened to me I also assumed the system was playing up. I checked anyway and found one tyre had dropped from the normal 36 psi to 26-27 psi. The system works!! Tony |

This is not true. If you get the software update the fixes (among other things) the transmission stuttering then the low tire screen will show which tire is low.

Prior to this software update my had the same symptoms as you (all 4 tires indicated low). Perhaps there are some differences that I am not aware of though! Worth a shot.

When I picked up a nail in my 530d, it told me exactly which tyre it was... does the X3 not do the same?!

I can't see why on the latest cars with visual display, where there is a definite failure on one tyre, the specific wheel shouldn't be identified and displayed. HighlandPete |
