Traded my 11 X3 2.8 for a 12 X5 35d

Last week traded in our 2011 X3 2.8 MSport for a 2012 X5 35d. Our X3 was fully loaded, only missing the convenience package. Need the bigger SUV and 3rd Row a few times a year.

The X5 is very loaded, but only has Sport package not MSport. It has Premium (Nav, Comfort Access, Rear Camera w/ Top, etc), Tech (HUD, Auto High Beam, Side View camera), Cold, Sport, 3rd Row Seat with Self Level, Soft Close Doors, Multi Contoured Seats, Dark Bamboo trim, and Running Boards. Unfortunately the original owner down graded from the Sport Staggered 20's to the Sport 19's.

I was surprised by a few things, but now makes sense. Since had latest X3 (F25) the 2012 is the last year of E70 X5. It does not have those nice cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. It does not have all that nice ambient inside lighting. The parking brake switch does not have a light on it to indicate its on. But one good thing is the steering wheel heater button is on the steering wheel, hated where it was on the X3, but dk if the latest X5 has it there too. Think our X3s had active steering, but the 12 X5 does not, I love it, but my wife liked the softer steering, not sure how she'll feel long term.

Unfortunately the X5 and X3 tire sizes are different, so cant use the nice Hakka R2s for winter. In case anyone wants to buy I have Hakka R2 RFT on BMW rims with TPMS for sale. Figure wont be able to sell till next winter.

Love the multi contoured seats, they are the same as my M5. Dont know if they are available in the X3, our MSport seats were nice, but not as big and comfy.

It will be really helpful to have the bigger trunk. Heres the numbers in case anyone needs in future. Since the X5 has jump seats for 3rd row you still have a trunk, versus the useless trunk in some big SUVs with super cushy 3rd row. Rented a Expedition once and you couldnt fit a stroller in that with 3rd row in use.

X5 Cargo
2nd Row Down 75 cu ft
3rd Row Down 36 cu ft
3rd Row Up 23 cu ft

X3 Cargo
2nd Row Dow 63 cu ft
2nd Row Up 27 cu ft
