Removing iPhone cradle possible

Finally picked up my2014 X3 and immediately noticed how huge the iPhone cradle is and how utterly useless it is. My question is can it be easily removed? Advisor had no idea. Doesn't look like its removable. The cradle takes up,so much room and ATM doesn't support iphone 5. Would love to reclaim all that wasted space.

go to the parts counter and get an assembly diagram of the cradle and how it is mounted. it shoud not be very difficult. its just tough taking your new car apart.

you may also find what you are looking for on realoem.com, if the diagrams have been updated to show MY14 data.

Just wondering if anyone did this. I tried following the instructions and when I got to "4th Pull the entire insert (easily snapped)" mine would not "easily snapped" out?

It is possible. Directions are posted in several locations online. A small screwdrive and a couple of Torx drivers are required. Takes less than an hour the first time, I am told, and only a few minutes after you've done it once.

You are left with a hole. Some people have ordered a new "oddments" tray without the hole.
