New iPhone 4S and bluetooth syncing still doesn't work

Got a new iPhone 4S and can sync the phone to make calls via BT, but that's it. No syncing of music or anything else.

It's leading me to believe that I might need an update to my iDrive?

How are you trying to play the music? You play the music via Bluetooth via the multimedia options.. providing you have the correct options in the car (quite a few threads on that)

Have you turned on Bluetooth Audio for your Phone? From the X3 Owners Manual:

Configuring the devices
Additional functions can be activated or deactivated
for paired and connected devices.
1. "Telephone"
2. "Bluetooth (telephone)"
3. Highlight the device to be configured.
4. Open "Options".
5. "Configure phone"
6. At least one function must be selected.
▷ "Telephone"
▷ "Additional telephone"
▷ "Audio"

Make sure you've selected Audio as well as Telephone. BTW, if you later plug your iPhone in using a white cable then Bluetooth Audio will be deactivated.

Did you press the button "Option" to configure the Bluetooth.

That's odd. Perhaps you're right, and an update is in order. When was your X3 built? Mine is an '11 with a July build date, and works fine with my iPhone 4S. Perhaps the UPD01004.bin update discussed in http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showth...d.php?t=626708 will help.

Might be worth posting the version numbers that you see under software update for comparison with other members that have a 4S. I know you had this problem before and followed this thread with no joy. I think you need to get the dealer to take a look but the problem is they won't have a clue. However, they may upgrade iDrive for you if you complain enough and that's worthwhile even if it doesn't fix this specific problem

^Yep, had the same issue with my 3gs and even my new 4s.

The updates that are available via USB - would that possibly do the trick? Is it an easy update to install in the dash?

It's easy - but you do it through the USB port in the armrest. Car has to be stationary.
