Unhappy Squeaky Drivers Seat.

My X3's developed an annoying squeak order the drivers seat, on bumpy roads it drives me mad! The source of the squeak seems to be under my right ar*e cheek in the seat cushion or frame. Has anyone had this happen to their car? Mines got electric memory facility.

I'm considering taking in to the dealers though don't hold out much hope of them sorting it...would a squirt with the WD40 fix it?

Saggo- you've had a lot of grief for a new car.
Take this issue straight to the dealer. A new car shouldn't have issues like this. Pester the dealer until its fixed.

Will do, I'm good at pestering...my problem is that I'm self employed and can't afford to spend days on end going back and forth to the dealers.

I got this in exactly the same place although its more of a creak than a squeak.

I've booked it in to get this looked at.

'Creak' is probably a more accurate description.

I'd appreciate it if you could let me know how you get on.

Might be Electric Seat related, by budget didn't stretch that far. Manual adjustment for me.
+ get the dealer to give you a loan car during the investigation

Don't think it is. I dont have either electric or sports seats like the original poster would have (being an Msport).

Is your seat all the way down? If so, try adjusting the seat up a little to stop the creak sound.

That's worth a try as a work-around but however it should not creak regardless of the height setting.

I had the same noise on the front passenger seat and the dealer replaced the seat frame for me.

I've had this problem with my 2 previous BMWs. Sometimes if the seat has not been moved/operated for awhile some of the lubricant might wear thin and then you have the squeaking and it's usually a hard thing to pinpoint.

What I do now (and it has always worked) is just move ALL the different parts of the seats back and forth a few times (recline, forward/backward, hight etc...) It might just get the lubricant moving to where it's needed.

Let us know.

I've tried the seat in various positions and it still creaks and groans, seems worse when the car interior is cold. Booked in for new windscreen and seat investigation next week - watch this space!

Can't believe it's taking over a week to get a windscreen in stock!

If this is a common problem, this theory might explain why I've not experienced it as I regularly switch with the wife and we have electric memory seats that move a lot each time we unlock with the other key.

Mine went in to the dealership today to have this looked at (along with the rustling from the dashboard). Rather predictably the sound wasn't as apparent as it normally is when I took the technician out to replicate it but nevertheless it did creak enough times for him to work out where to look. Apparently they've fixed it butI haven't managed to collect it today. I'll update once I have.

Fingers crossed.

I had the same issue with my 2012. Took it to the dealer twice and they said they lubricated some components only resolved the problem temporarily. I was told by the service advisor that it maybe the plastic inside the seat rubbing and that give it sometime and it will go away. So far no more squeak. Hope it stays that way.

OK car is back, seat is creaking less. I noticed it made a noise a couple of times on the way home but it was no way near as bad as before and not bad enough for me to take it back. Not much information from the dealer other than it was part of the seat trim that was causing the issue.

OK update, noise is back. Looks like I'll have to take it back to the dealership.

Really fed up with this car.

I have the same problem...Drivers seat makes noise took it to the Dealer and they lubricated the frame...it worked for a while...I did notice that during the hot weather here in So.Cal. The noise went away...now that we are in cold weather the noise came back..so I'll be taking my X3 for service of the brakes and the seat...

Update, got the car back today (2nd visit, has been there since Thursday) and they seem to have cured the seat squeak. They said they needed to replace a part (hence the extended visit) and it seems to have worked. Fingers crossed.

No afraid not, wasn't given any paperwork. Did ask but the service guy seemed a bit vague but they did replace something.
