G01

Anybody have any idea as to when this car is coming to market?

I had an 11 f25 and a 14, and now the 14 is soon to be returned.

Don't want to get another f25 when it's soon to be replaced.

G01 is expected to be available in the US in 2017 as a 2018 model. First deliveries may occur as early as April or it may be a few months later.

From what I have read it production for the new X3 will start in August 2017 so I would expect to see it on US showroom floors at the earliest late autumn next year.

BMWblog reported F25 production will end in July 2017. As Crassus reported, first deliveries of the G01 version of the X3 in September 2017 appears more likely.
http://www.bmwblog.com/2016/07/21/vi...rburgring-run/

I thought I saw one source speculate on an April changeover to the G01, but this was likely my error.

Saw that. Thanks.

Think after an x5 and 3 x3's, I am going to have to leave the BMW SAV family. Maybe an MB GLC, thought somewhat underpowered, or a Q5 - thought it too is getting long in the tooth.

Can't justify getting another f25 at this point in the life cycle.

BMW announced it will release the G01 around Fall 2017. So probably this month next year.

Jaguar? Testdrive?

All aluminium chassis AND body- like Ford F150!

My reading is that they no more have shitty quality.

The Q5 redesign is expected to arrive late in 2017, shortly after the G01 X3. If you cannot justify the F25 X3 this late in the life cycle, why would you consider a 2017 Q5 which is little changed from its introduction in 2009?

I'd disagree with this, I think it's the perfect time to get one - any LCI production faults have been ironed out, discounts are available and getting one now and keeping it for 2-3 years will allow a move to the G01 after all the early production faults (and it will have some) have been rectified...

Buy a Mercedes GLC or GLE. Than you have quality at least. Audi sucks.

Waiting for a quote on a GLC.

Good looking car. Will get the job done just fine. It's for my wife, so not too fussed!

This is our thinking as well. What we know about the G01 at this stage is that while there will certainly be some improvements - 100kg (200lb) lighter, wider range of new B Series engines - I don't see it as a big a improvement over the F25 that the F25 was over the E83. With the 2015 LCI update, the F25 now has all the new tech we would want - LED headlights, HUD, adaptive cruise control etc.

Here in Australia there have already been significant discounts on the X3 for some months now which I expect to get even larger. Going to be no such discounts when the G01 arrives. Additionally here in the Australian market - and I stress this applies only to our market - there's been some speculation that we might not get any 6-cylinder engines for the G01 X3, with those being reserved for the more performance orientated X4.

Just bored. No knocks on the car or the platform.

Had one from 2011-14 and then the one I currently have.

Don't feel like spending 9 years with essentially the same car.

I know the Q5 is due for a revamp, but I only threw it in the mix because I don't want a third F25.

Want a change more than anything else.

I was going to buy a X3 30d last month but then decided to wait for MY17 built car. I wonder how much discount we can get given the new model will be out soon?

That's what were are doing at the moment as well - waiting for the MY17 models. This should ensure we get the upgraded iDrive system plus at least preparation for Apple CarPlay. I wouldn't be holding your breath waiting for the new G01 model. Don't expect to see it in Australia until early-mid 2018 at the earliest - that's 18-24 months away.

I would expect the existing discounts (where they are effectively throwing in the M-Sports and Innovation packages for free) will continue for the MY17 models - in the Australian market at the moment there's just too much competition from the GLC and F-Pace in particular with both the Q5 and XC60 still doing strong.

The other consideration for Aussie-bound G01 X3s is just where they will come from. It was announced some months ago now that G01 X3 production would also be added to the BMW Rosslyn Plant in South Africa. The suggestion is that LHD X3s will continue to come from the US Plant with RHD X3s coming from South Africa. Nothing wrong with the BMWs that come from RSA (the Rosslyn Plant is highly regarded within BMW), but it just might mean a further delay to the supply of RHD G01s into markets like Australia and UK.

It seems like BMW is not very keen to sell 30d in Australia.

The innovation package only includes comfort access on the 30d, whereas on 20d it includes many options that are already standard on the 30d. With M-sport and innovation pack the only difference between 20d and 30d are lumbar support, HiFi speakers and the engine itself, but the price difference is still more than $10k.

I am thinking along the same lines. When I ordered my 14 plate X3 I knew within 12 months the LC1 was coming but proceeded anyway, is secured a £3K discount and towards the LC1 release date there were issues with supplying M-Sport models so the wait could have been even longer than predicted.

The GO1 is scheduled for build in August 2017 but when will it be possible to configure one? I'm guessing not until March / April next year? My local BMW is already quoting 4 months for a specced X3 so I would assume the GO1 would be significantly more, at least 6 months meaning it wouldn't arrive in the UK until March 2018 - a full year after my lease runs out, that is assuming that m-sport models are supplied at launch and not delayed as was the case with the LC!. I'm also wary that I could be holding out for a car that I may not like or may not be as significantly different as we hope so the additional wait and no doubt additional cost would be for nothing.

I was at a dealer yesterday and the LC1 offers quite an increase in specification than my current X3 and with the discount that I should get I will be able to get some more toys such as HUD. I would also get the reassurance that everything is tried and tested. Dare I say it but I am leaning towards a Carbon Black X3, I don't like the red, I don't want another grey, I saw a silver one at the dealer and it didn't look very nice and as much as i like white, it would be a bugger to keep clean and i'm not a hairdresser lol. Deep Sea Blue would have been my choice but that is no longer offered on M-Sport models, at least the Carbon Black has a hint of blue in it.

Don't forget the other advantage - for us in the UK anyway - any replacement F25 X3 is unlikely to have a list price below £40k, so if you take delivery before the new road tax rules start on 1st April 2017 you'll avoid the additional 5 year supplement on the RFL

e.g. our F25 2.0d MSport (with a few options so list price is £40k+) currently costs £130/yr, and will have an inflationary rise next year, the same car registered after 1 April 2017 will be £200 for year 1 then £140/yr plus a £310/yr supplement for 5 years so £450/yr for years 2-6

Exactly. We are not talking about a VW Golf that's comes with more standard kit with every generation. HUD, Professional Media, Xenon etc are likely to still be options on the G01. By buying a car discounted at 10-20% you can get gadgets you wouldn't have put on a full price G01.

Buy an F25 now, enjoy it for two years and then compare the G01 against the new X5 and Q5 in 2018.

Fine, I understand you are perhaps too familiar with the F25 X3 and want something different. However, don't you want something better? The Audi Q5 platform is 8 years old and well beyond its best by date.

Consider what Car & Driver said about the 2013 Q5 in a comparison that the BMW X3 won:
"The Q5 is one of those vehicles whose outward appearance perfectly telegraphs the character of its driving experience. In this case, that means the Q5 looks and drives like a dinner roll might, if a dinner roll could be driven. Every single one of the Audi’s responses is as softly smooshy as the appearance of the Q5’s tail."
