Anyone taken delivery of a manual X3 yet?
If so any chance of some internal pictures? All the pictures of the Auto are nice and all that but I have ordered a manual box and have yet to see a car spec'd with it!. Cheers in advance

Nice view, Kickdown.
Naive question, though. Buttons that have words on them are English. No buttons in the "native" language for these cars?

Funny thing is, in the UK everyone seems to be ordering the Auto, which is a £1500 option over the Manual. All the Demo's i have driven have been the auto, it's really nice but as stated previuosly I kept on trying to change down coming to lights and junctions and just found myself ramming my left foot on the brake, the car coming to a halt very quickly, had to remind myself, no clutch!

Ditto. The X3 I ordered is the first automatic transmission car I've owned. (My wife's vehicles have been automatic, and although I drive it from time to time I don't consider it "mine").

The manual 6 shift gearbox
Hi,
I have an X3 2.0D (delivered April 1st 2011) with manual gearbox. shifting I use mostly (1) 2 - 5 shift up to 2500 - 2700 rpm (55-60 mph). I seem like the 6 gear works best from 2700 rpm (60+ mph) and any use before that you might experience loss of power driving on a freeway with some hills. The shifting is very smooth, tight with perfect precision and excellent handling = BMW style automatic start/stop function to make it work you should always put your gearbox in neutral and only push down your brake pedal. What you normally do is to leave it in gear 1 and push both the clutch- and the brake pedals. So basically it is a different style of driving. For most people this function will probably not work as we tend to keep our old behaviors while driving. |
