Question Quick & Easy X3 Speaker Replacement

After a few weeks of listening to my new X3 E83, I've noticed that the passanger side speakers need some work... therefore, I'd like to replace both door speakers with something better than the OEM. I've viewed the BAVSound videos... but I'm not sure which speakers to go with. Do I need sound deadening material?? I'm not an audiophile snob, but a significant enhancement on OEM would be ideal (especially to reduce the "rattle" at modest levels).
Thanks.

Easy answer for you. I have personally changed out the speakers in two of my X3's and helped dozens of others. The model that fit perfectly and has a good overall sound with the stock system and upgraded systems was the Alpine SPS-400. They have since changed the speaker to the SPS-410. I cannot vouch for the SPS-410 since any small change can hamper the installation. If you can find a set on e bay or electronics place for under $60 US then buy them. Make sure to replace both front and back doors as unmatched speakers are like unmatched tires. It just really doesn't work. Installation is a breeze if you are somewhat handy and I can walk you through it with pictures if you like. Post or send me a PM I'll keep an eye out for it.

Cheers,
EE

Did my link help? Did you get yours installed.

Many apologies for the delays.

Getting hammered at work and trying to sell my house so less free time than usual.

Can vouch for the SPS-410 as fitting the X3. Another X3 owner that I have been chatting with has put them in his X3. I have the SPS-400's Both sound great. And certainly much better than the stock ones.

The infinitys are super bright in comparison to the Alpines. I actually gave them away. And my hearing is not where it should be after years of being in the music industry. And they are half the price of the Infinitys.

i got the 410's installed.. i had to tone down the bass one notch and they work good. it seems that the amp puts out more than the speakers can handle. much better than stock..

Different impedance value. Alpines are 4 ohms and BMW's amp is 2 ohms.

I was going to swap mine out with the Pioneed or kicker low profiles. I left the stock one's in and added power and a seperate 10" Boston Acoustic for really low end bass. The ones under the seat are designated for mid bass. Here is a simple diagram of my system.

Properly tuned and powered the one's under the seat are surprisingly good if not asked to do something they can't, low frequency bass under 150Hz. They now handle 125HZ-800Hz give or take 20 Hz. The larger sub everything under 150Hz.

Get an in line processor for about $100, and then get an Alpine or other good amp.

Here is an example of one : http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...6.html?from=20

Basically disconnect speaker inputs to amp which is in the left side panel in the rear hatch if you are facing forward. Connect them to this processor and then connect to new amp, then connect speakers to new amp.

Also previously posted door speakers were 2 ohms. That is incorrect. The door speakers are 4 ohms and the midbass under the seat are 2 ohms. This kind of amp will be fantastic with this set up:

Have fun and PM if you need better details.

Cheers,

EE
