Nail in RFT/ Road Hazard Protection

Found a nail in the drivers-side rear RFT after TPMS sensor warned about low tire pressure.

The good news is that the road hazard protection coverage (that Tire Rack provides for free when purchasing tires) allows for a new replacement tire (rather than a patch/plug) on BMWs, Porsches, and Nissan GTRs.

So after placing a call and sending them a few pictures, they approved the claim on the spot and Tire Rack shipped out a new tire (again with free road hazard protection) earlier this afternoon.

Now that's what I call service!

Do you have to pay for the uninstall and install of the new tire? How long is the shipping?

Mounting and balancing is not included. However, the tire alone (Michelin Primacy MXM4) are nearly $300 each!

Shipping time is usually 1-2 days (in my case, it ships from Indiana). I could have purchased the replacement tire from any tire retailer (the road hazard company reimburses you for up to the original purchased price)... but I've been buying tires from Tire Rack for several years now and have been thoroughly impressed with their competitive pricing, level of knowledge, quality/ ease of doing business...and their overall level of service (but I must admit that this was an unexpected surprise).

Until the tire arrives, the X3 is in garage at home and fortunately we have other cars to use...so not in a big rush.

If you want, you can keep driving the car under 60mph until you receive the new tire.
