Comfort Access Stopped Working Today

Wife came home this evening and said when she touched the ribbed portion of the door handle, it made a clicking noise but would not unlock. She fished out her fob and unlocked. I verified the clicking noise and refusal to unlock. Is this something I can fix with a hammer, or do I need a BMW tech?

Maybe read the manual.

Touching the ribbed portion of the handle LOCKS the car.

The car is unlocked by sliding your hand under the handle.

The clicking noise she experienced is the car trying to lock again after already being locked.

If no luck with above try replacing the battery then hold the key fob by the steering colum for a minute.

Just checked it out. You are correctomundo. I never drive her car - just took her word for how it worked. Thanks for taking the time to straighten me out.

The stupid part of me tells me to wake her up and straighten her out right now. The smart part tells me to wait for the morning.

LOL
Hope the smart part of you won, and you were able to have a nice sleep haha

I don't know how many times I've had my wife say the same thing.
Sometimes she'd push the ribbed part with her thumb while her other fingers were inside the handle, and she'd complain the car wouldn't lock. Watch out for that too! (It doesn't lock because of the hand inside the handle, telling it to unlock)
