Hatch Opens when Driver Door Locked
Hey everyone,
Hoping someone may have seen this issue before. When I try to lock or unlock the doors from the passenger door, everything works fine. However when I try to unlock the driver door, nothing happens. When I try to lock the doors from the driver door, the hatch opens. Everything is normal. The fob is in my pocket like normal. And I’m trying to lock or unlock using the sensors in the door handle. It started yesterday after I got to work. The door locked fine when I arrived at work, but when I left I could only unlock the door by pressing the button on the fob. Hoping it something simple before I take it to the dealership. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!! |

New development on this today. Took it through an automatic car wash today and the hatch opened in the wash!!! It was a crazy dive through the car to grab the handle and close the hatch before the car filled with water. Had to hold the handle throughout because everytime it closed it tried to open it again. This is so frustrating. Calling the dealership tomorrow. I can’t have the hatch opening randomly.

This is quite an issue, perhaps a crossed wire or connection. I'd hate to be the mechanic who is assigned your car, its gonna be a bi*ch to trace down the root of your issue!
Best of luck to you and the dealer, Keep us posted!

Obviously that's crazy. It's a circuit gone mad or water ingress. Hopefully it's "just" a control module somewhere that isn't expensive. An electrical diagram would help a lot of you think of DIY'ing. I'm sure you already know this. Dang, good luck.

Should be under warranty, luckily.

So no, it's not under warranty. They ran a diagnostic and found nothing wrong. They then changed the door handle and found nothing wrong. They then called and said they wanted to open her up to look into wiring for a problem. They didn't know what they were looking for, but they didn't know what else to look for so their solution was to open the wiring. I had found a SB 513016 that seemed to describe the problem so I asked if they had checked it to see if it applied. They had not heard of it. A few hours they called back and said they were going to do the SB and it would be overnight for the updates to run. They gave me a loaner overnight and when I went to pick it up they told me it had 15 updates and it was only on 5. They called early afternoon the next day and said the update had solved it.
