My X3 is just approaching 3 years old and the warranty is expiring. During the warranty period I have made two claims, both regarding the tailgate.First the struts had to be replaved and then the drive motor had to be replaced.
I am wondering if the tailgate is a weak point on this model. Anyone else having problems with it?

I've got a lot of time under warranty left on my hatch, thankfully, because the power struts are starting to make funny sounds. I'm not sure how the gearing in those work, but they have to be worked pretty hard to raise and lower that hatch.

I've also had to have the hatch adjusted a couple of times for a poor fit.

3 years the motor on tailgate should not be breaking down. Perhaps a lemon. 7 year mark that's a different story and would be expected.

Both of my struts were replaced under warranty. The only other tailgate issue that I've had was a broken grounding strap (located near the left hinge).
