Sending Google Map destination to car

Just got mine to work. Had to call BMW Assist to review my account. Turns out they had my old email associated with previous vehicles. As soon as they deleted old mail and old vehicles off the account and reset it works!

It works from google map to car but not from the iphone. Anyone else got it to work via another route?

Since I had BMW Assist on my previous car it caused some issue with my X3. Took a couple of tries but they finally fixed it so I could send a map to my car.

As for iPhone, never found out how to get it to work that way. Wish it did.

You can use the My BMW Remote iPhone app to send destinations to the car direct from your iPhone. It has a Google Local Search and you can send the results direct to your car. Only way to do it as far as I know because Google Maps Mobile doesn't have Send to Car

Any resolution on this? Hasn't worked in our X3 either. Delivered 8/30. One call to BMW assist hasn't helped. Will call again when I get a chance.

It took forever to finally get mine working. More than a couple of months. I really don't know what they did to fix it, because nothing was changed on my end. I had to place several calls to BMW Assist, and wrote a fairly nasty letter to the duchebag that manages the service for BMW. He never replied (hence my opinion of him).

Good luck. The only advice I can give is to continue to apply pressure, don't let them forget about you.

So far, I've only figured out how to send a Destination. I've used Google to create a Route, adjusted it because I know where the traffic hotspots are going to be, and then sent it to the X3. All that gets sent is the Destination, not the Route, so the Nav system goes back to the original unadjusted Route. The same thing happens when I send to a Garmin dashmount, so it's more likely Google than BMW.

I would be happy to feel stupid if someone can explain what I'm doing wrong.

I didn't know this feature existed until watching the online how to vies from BMW and this thread. Works great. Love it. Just another thing to love about my blue x3

Ok, now mine is working! BMW assist gave me the advice about using caps in my email and also removed a space from my address that shouldn't have been there. then reset the account and I tried again...no luck. Looked in messages. Nothing. Then, playing around on my own found a selection called "update BMW assist." After a few seconds it said update was complete, and going back to messages the destinations I sent were there! Now works, but only after i update BMW assist? Don't recall this being a step. Anyone else do it this way?

Today I plotted a route on google maps clicked on BMW sent to my e-mail address and it gave me turn by turn to my destination through the maze of LA freeways and traffic( first time I have tried it)

Same here, it appears that I need to update the BMW assist each time I sent the direction to the car, then, I'd be able see the message I sent from Google otherwise I can't see the message.

Shouldn't it be automatically pick up the message you sent without updating the BMW assist?

For those who have it work. How long does it take for the message to go from you hitting 'send' on google maps to show up in your car? They escalated my problem at BMW Assist since it's still not working. While they were initially working on it, it seems they sometimes show up, but after about an hour, and I have to hit the "update" button for it to show up. We'll see if the higher ups can smooth it out.

when I first tried it in may, it took moments to transfer, now it takes 3-5 days totally useless

i used it a few times on friday and saturday a few days - came down within minutes of starting my X3 and pulling out from the covered parking garage at work.

For reference, I just tried mine and timed how long the messages take to show up. 20-30 seconds after hitting send and they pop up on iDrive messages. This is with the ignition already on and the iDrive initialised. It will be slower if you just get in the car and switch everything on
