I still cannot find this in the US Google play store. Has anyone in the US been successful in installing it?

Agree with that, over priced junk.
BMW doing SatNavs has proved as stupid as Garmin trying to make cars.

Even the nav I had on my older Honda Ridgeline had a touch screen. Can't give a voice command for a store or hotel - instead you have to have the street address. For example, with Google on my smartphone, I can say "Best Buy" and bingo, it will bring up the closest Best Buy stores to my current location.

It is a mess, plain and simple. Still haven't figured out how to send Google maps to the vehicle, but I think that is because the systems are anti-Droid and only iPhone compatible. If I am wrong, please correct me. (I tried BMW Office thing and there's nothing there).

I drive a lot for work and have resorted to using my phone when I get close to a destination because the voice interface works.

The other pain I have with the system, but this is typical of nav systems, is that they will often seek the shortest route in miles, not the most efficient - leading me through back roads and neighborhoods to shave a tenth of a mile off a journey by not staying on a main road. I feel bad for people that live in these once quiet neighborhoods who now have to deal with random cars driving through because some NAV mapping system deemed their street is a quick shortcut.

I wouldn't pay for a map upgrade.
I've got the BMW app which doesn't work too well on my android Galaxy S2- the functions to flash the lights etc produce an app crash , I downloaded the free Send to Car app, which works very well with Google Maps (sorry Iphones fans for Apples maps!) With the Send to Car app you can just click on where you want to go in Google Maps, then Share, then Send to Car (your details will be remembered). Works very well!
Make sure your dealer has setup your connected drive account.
+ Its FREE

I travel the country with my Garmins, and have updated them religiously. The same flaws that I know of in certain areas are still there. I have no data issues with my BMW mapping, and there's no way that I would pay for an update.

Where did you see the My BMW Remote app for Android? I routinely check Google Play and it is still not available in the U.S. (Apple Only).

I have used this app (from my Ipad) to unlock my wife's BMW when she was on a business trip. She was parked on a hill and sat her purse with key and phone on the seat. Gravity closed the locked door. She was able to call me from a borrowed cell phone and I unlocked the car via the app. Worked great!

I found the Android version at the Google Play store on my PC (Googled it ) but not when checking Play Store from my Android. If you try to download, it says cannot be used in your location (i.e. US). It's strange that the app is available worldwide for iOS and for Android outside US. I asked BMW and they said it's being worked on but that's been true for the better part of a year I believe. Some US people have successfully got it running by using some tools to download/install the .apk file.

Ok, I found it online as well and experienced the same problem with trying to download. I also tried the "trick" way of getting it but was not successful. I do like the App and the only problem I have with it is that the app will let me remotely Lock/Unlock, Flash Headlights, and sound the horn. But if it is more than .6 miles away it will not display the location due to privacy concerns! In other words I can control it just not know where it is located! Duh, what is wrong with this picture.

Downloaded .apk file for Android (searched web to find it because Play Store doesn't allow it for U.S. yet). Honked my horn remotely . Takes a while to update location. It has room for improvement but might help in some situation. Won't work well if both phone and car don't have good (3G/4G) internet access.

Hint 1: After downloading .apk file, e-mail it to youself (e.g. GMail account). Then there is a function to "install" right from e-mail.

Hint 2: Use login user/pw for My BMW Assist account (all CAPS for both!). Then assign a 4 digit pin for the app (need to enter each time you launch).

I downloaded the .apk file from another board thread:
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=636660

which contained this link to the .apk file:
