The 2nd generation X3 (F25) does not have a spare tire nor space for a spare.

The 1st generation X3 (E83) had a spare tire. If you are interested in information on this spare tire, you might post in the X3 E83 forum.

I found this on the size of the X3 E83 spare tire:
"The E83 spare wheel has part number of 36116758778 for the wheel only (it doesn't seem to be available with a tire). It is steel, 17" diameter, 4" wide with an offset of 18mm."

I am skeptical that this 17" wheel would clear the brake disc and be a good fit on the M4. A 18" temporary spare from the X5 may fit.
